Modernizing the Role of the Advanced Practice Clinicians in Surgical Specialties

Advanced practice clinicians (APCs) in surgical specialties have historically been confined to a narrow "extender" role—first assisting in the OR, managing postoperative care, and taking call—a scope that leaves clinical capacity, revenue, and job satisfaction on the table.
