      2024 Tampa Regional Meeting

Free for medical group members, regional meetings are specifically designed to be interactive with an agenda crafted to facilitate networking among attendees. Time is split between succinct presentations, small group breakouts, and an open floor ("Hot Topics") where attendees can consult with the group for advice on any topic. To ensure the content is specific to individual markets, topics and speakers are identified via a planning committee of AMGA medical group members in the region.

Friend In The Exam Room: The Impact Of AI On Clinical Medicine

Tessa Wigger, MD, Medical Director of Value Based Care, Millennium Physician Group

Automating clinical documentation through AI offers significant potential for reducing administrative burden, allowing physicians to focus more on direct patient care, improving patient satisfaction and reducing burn out among medical staff. AI-powered tools can transcribe patient encounters and generate clinical notes saving physicians valuable time and energy. Moreover, automated documentation can enhance the accuracy and completeness of medical records, contributing to improved patient safety and quality of care. However, it is important to acknowledge the potential drawbacks including errors and inaccuracies in medical records and impacting patient care decisions. Over-reliance on automated systems could make the health care provider vulnerable to technical failures, hindering their ability to efficiently document encounters. AI may also struggle to capture the full context and nuances of patient interactions leading to incomplete or potentially misleading clinical narratives.

      Centralized Call Center Experiences

Angie Kuhn, Chief Operating Officer & Donna Williams, Executive Director of Operations, SIMEDHealth

When people take a position in healthcare, they tend to do so because of the impact made by their interactions with patients, or to provide the support for those who have these interactions. Just as we’ve seen healthcare providers becoming overwhelmed with more and more computer clicks, front-end staff are similarly overwhelmed with doing all they needed to do for the patients in front of them, while simultaneously attempting to effectively manage their incoming calls. Dissatisfaction is seen from staff, patients, callers and providers, resulting in lost opportunities. Follow SIMED's path as they walk through the steps taken from development, all parties’ buy-in, pilot, implementation, lessons learned and expansion.
